Tory MSP Graham Simpson has hit out against the Scottish Government demanding clarity on when driving lessons can resume.
The First Minister elaborated on new guidance from the Scottish Government's phase 3 route map out of lockdown yesterday, but failed to issued guidance on when instructors can begin teaching again as the coronavirus lockdown is eased.
The UK Government revealed that lessons and tests south of the border resumed on July 4, but no guidance has been revealed for lessons in Scotland.
When Mr. Simpson questioned the First Minister, he was left with less than satisfactory answers.
Scottish Conservative shadow local government minister Graham Simpson said:
“I asked the First Minister why driving lessons and tests can’t restart in Scotland. I’m none the wiser.
“Driving can be a key skill in getting a job and drivers need to be equipped with proper and adequate practice.
“Driving instructors have reached out to me and have indicated that they’re ready to resume lessons with face masks, gloves, and sanitiser. Everything that’s required to keep the instructor and the learner driver safe.
“Barber's are set to re-open in Scotland and you can ride in a taxi but still no word on when driving lessons can resume.
“It’s frustrating for instructors and people who have been waiting months for lessons and a test. The SNP Government needs to provide further clarity on when lessons can resume.
