The Stage 3 debate on the Transport Bill was long and controversial. I and many of my colleagues fought against the car park tax, which would see hundreds of pounds in charges for people to park at their place of work.
I heard from Brakes, based in Eurocentral, who said the car part tax would be unfair and punitive for its workers. I agree. Working shifts and unsociable hours, especially in out of town locations can mean public transport isn't an option. My amendments to exclude these workers from the car park tax were defeated in the Scottish Parliament by the SNP and the Greens.
