Central Scotland Conservative MSP Graham Simpson visited Lidl’s new warehouse which will support Lidl's operations in Scotland.
Lidl has confirmed that its brand new distribution centre at Eurocentral will be fully operational by November 2019. The news comes as the retailer welcomed local politicians and councillors, including Graham Simpson, MSP for Central Scotland Region, for an exclusive look at the new warehouse.
At 58,500 sq ft the distribution centre is Lidl’s largest to date in Great Britain. The move will support Lidl’s growing store estate across Scotland, set to reach 100 locations by the start of next year. It will also be the base for 600 employees working in roles ranging from operations and logistics to customer service, with capacity to increase the workforce further in the future.
Lidl opened its first store in Scotland in 1994 and has grown to employ more than 2,200 people in the region. The supermarket is passionate about sourcing local produce, and stocks over 300 products from 60 suppliers across Scotland. This new warehouse development reflects the discounter’s continued investment ambitions in the country.
Graham Simpson said: “It’s great to see the construction progress at the distribution centre and meet the team who are delivering the project. It will be an incredible facility. I’m really pleased Lidl are continuing to invest in the area, bringing new jobs and opportunities to the local community.”
