The new law requiring all households to have interlinked fire alarms will come into force in a few weeks, yet Housing Secretary Shona Robinson said that the Scottish Government still has no idea how many homes are currently falling short of the requirement.
The Scottish Government’s own evaluation report showed that one in ten homeowners are not even aware of the new legislation, let alone understand what the law will require of them. This is despite the Cabinet Secretary claiming that awareness on this matter is ‘high’.
The SNP have already postponed the scheme once. They must now do so again and produce a thorough plan for ensuring households are able to meet the requirements of the law.
