Yesterday, Graham Simpson MSP visited the University of St Andrews, as part of his work with the CPG on Life Sciences. He was hosted by Professor Frank Gunn-Moore, Head of School of Biology, and Professor Terry Smith, Director of the Biomedical Sciences Research Complex, who led him on a tour of the Biomolecular Sciences Research Complex. Mr Simpson MSP was impressed by the fantastic research facilities, which included a tissue culture lab and some super resolution microscopes.
Also in attendance was Professor Peter Donnelly, Chair in Public Health. who shared the exciting work of the Sir James MacKenzie Institute for Early Diagnosis. The tour concluded at the Scottish Oceans Institute where the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology are based.
Graham Simpson MSP said: "Scotland is at the cutting edge of so much of this research, and it was great to see the University's interdisciplinary approach in practice".
