BioAscent welcomed Graham Simpson, MSP for Central Scotland, on site this week to showcase its biology, chemistry and state-of-the-art compound management and library facilities.
As Deputy Convener for the cross-party life sciences group within the Scottish Parliament, Graham Simpson was keen to find out more about BioAscent and the work it carries out. During the visit, Graham was given a tour of the facilities based at the BioCity Scotland site in Newhouse and had the opportunity to meet members of the team.
Commenting on the visit, BioAscent’s Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Phil Jones said: “We were delighted to welcome Graham to BioAscent. It is an exciting time for the company following the investment last year which enabled us to build on our already successful compound management service, to become a fully integrated drug discovery CRO.”
“We have integrated highly experienced chemistry and biology teams with excellent track records of drug discovery success, and are continuing to build the team with high calibre and well-respected scientists, investing in training and development, to meet the growing demand for our services.”
“We were pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the work we do and the opportunities we are creating for skilled scientists here in Scotland to a Member of the Scottish Parliament.”
Graham Simpson said “I was delighted to visit BioAscent to see first hand the great work they are doing.
“To compete in the modern economy, we need to see greater investment in life sciences across Scotland. It is exciting to see how BioAscent has used investment to build up their management service to become a fully integrated drug discovery CRO.”
