An MSP visited a charity dedicated to helping families affected by addiction.
Central Scotland MSP Graham Simpson popped along to Love and Light Recovery’s weekly Sunday café at the Jim Foley Centre in Wishaw to see the work they do.
The group also has a Saturday café at the Pilgrim Community Centre in Airdrie.
Mr Simpson met Jane Chambers who manages a group of helpers who have all suffered from addiction problems.
He said: “The cafes are a great way for families who have been affected by addiction to share their experiences and gain strength from each other.
“The group was started three years ago and the demand for it is clear with an many as 60 people attending the Wishaw café just a short time after it started.
“They always have entertainment, along with arts and crafts for youngsters and therapies – such as massage, which I tried. They also go on respite break and retreats.
“It really was uplifting to hear the stories of people there about the journeys they have been on.”
