An MSP visited a social enterprise café in Motherwell and declared it has the recipe for success.
Central Scotland MSP Graham Simpson popped in to the Windmills Café in the town centre after it was awarded £500 from Asda towards kitchen equipment.
The café helps young people with learning difficulties to achieve mainstream qualifications, hands-on experience, life and social skills, confidence and independence.
Mr Simpson met youngsters who are part of the scheme and Alison Marsella, who runs it.
He said: “Windmills is a great facility in the town centre and is doing fantastic work, helping to develop young people with learning difficulties.
“They are learning a range of skills from cooking, health and hygiene and dealing with people and it was clear from talking to them that they all benefit greatly. I was really interested to learn that they have done the hospitality at Fir Park once this season. Motherwell FC is a great community club.
“I can also vouch for the quality of the food at Windmills – it was top-notch.”
