Incredible result for South Lanarkshire Conservatives
South Lanarkshire Conservatives are eager to get down to business after a stunning result in the local election.
Voters across the county returned a record 14 Tory councillors in last Thursday's poll.
It was an incredible leap forward for the party, which had just four seats on the previous South Lanarkshire Council.
Councillor Alex Allison, the new Ieader of the Conservative Group, is clear his team will provide effective representation for everyone in the area.
He said: "This was a terrific result that means for the first time there are Conservative councillors for every part of South Lanarkshire.
"We have an excellent group with a broad range of experience and a shared determination to deliver for our constituents.
"Throughout the campaign we said we would ensure the council focuses on local issues.
"We will be absolutely true to our word and deliver on that commitment to put the needs of our communities first."
