This week, I had the pleasure of visiting North Lanarkshire College as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week to meet modern apprentices and see their first-class learning environment.
It was a pleasure to meet apprentices from a wide range of courses, from computer science to engineering, and to hear about the many fantastic opportunities open to them.
I also had the chance to visit East Kilbride Group Training Association, which prepares the young engineers of tomorrow.
Cathkin High and Stonelaw High pupils were there during my visit and some seemed keen to pursue engineering as a career.
This week was also the last full session of South Lanarkshire Council. It has been an honour to serve my constituents in East Kilbride West as their councillor and I am glad to be able to continue working for people across North and South Lanarkshire in the Scottish Parliament. We have a fantastic cohort of Scottish Conservative candidates who will be working hard to win your votes ahead of the local government elections in May.
I have taken part in two debates on local government finance this week.
We have consistently fought against the SNP’s plans to underfund local authorities which could lead to job losses and service cuts. My latest speech to the parliament on the subject can be viewed here.
I have also visited Shelter's Hub in Glasgow to find out more about their work helping the homeless.
