GRAHAM SIMPSON MSP BACKS CHARITY’S SERVICE WHICH CAN HELP BUSINESSES TO BECOME DEAF AWARE
Graham Simpson MSP is backing charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s Moving On service which offers support to help businesses in Central Scotland to become more accessible and deaf aware for job-seekers or employees who are Deaf or have hearing loss.
Moving On, which is funded by The Big Lottery Fund Scotland, provides communication tips as well as information about the Access to Work programme and how to book communication support such as BSL / English interpreters.
The charity’s Employment Advisers, who sign to a high level of British Sign Language (BSL), supports young deaf or hard of hearing people aged 16-25 into employment, training, education and volunteering opportunities. The Employment Advisers also provides key practical advice about preparing CVs, interview training and getting ready for college or work.
Graham Simpson MSP said: “Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s Moving On service plays a vital role in supporting businesses to become more knowledgeable and confident about employing people who are Deaf or have hearing loss.
“I urge employers across Central Scotland to contact this specialist service to find out how they can make their recruitment processes fully accessible and ensure that talented local young deaf or hard of hearing people have the chance to progress in their preferred careers.”
