Central Scotland MSP Graham Simpson congratulated Shotts based charity Getting Better Together on their Big Lottery Fund award.
Mr Simpson visited getting Better Together in Shotts to see the art project that was running thanks to a grant of £48,836 from the Big Lottery Fund - Young Start Funding Award.
Established in 2000, Getting Better Together is a community centred health initiative that aims to promote the education, health and wellbeing of the local residents in North Lanarkshire through a range of activities. The activities focus on community members taking an active part in improving their health and wellbeing.
Mr Simpson was shown around the charity’s premises and was able to see some of the art work that had been created as part of the project funded by the grant, which is designed to tell the story of the local area through a mixture of art, audio and photography.
Mr Simpson spoke with volunteers from the organisation. He said “I was impressed by the vast service that Getting Better Together provides to the local community and the positive impact it has on the lives of people living in the area.”
“The Big Lottery Fund money is another wonderful boost to this charity and I hope to see Getting Better Together continue to grow and provide services to the local community as well as employment to local people”.
