Last week, I asked the Transport Minister if she would extend the Network Support Grant + which is keeping bus operators afloat as they recover from the pandemic.
It ends on the 9th October - leaving her just three days to save the industry.
If she doesn’t we could see a loss of 200+ jobs, 50 routes across Scotland cancelled entirely and in some areas a 35% cut in services
CPT Scotland estimate it will cost £44.85m to extend the grant for 6 months.
Their modelling shows a potential underspend of £79m for the Concessionary Travel Scheme and £84.5m for the Under 22s Scheme.
The bus industry is teetering on the edge and the Scottish Government have the money to act.
