In the last few years, myself and the Lanarkshire Police Historical Society have been calling on the UK government to create an award for emergency workers killed on duty.
This week a debate was held in the UK Parliament on this issue for the first time and I was pleased to see MPs across the chamber united in support.
I thank Wendy Chamberlain, MP for North East Fife, for bringing this important debate to Westminster and welcome the positive response from Minister Johnny Mercer MP.
