MSP for Central Scotland and Shadow Transport Minister, Graham Simpson today visited QTS Training at their facility in Strathaven to take part in one of their rope access courses.
Mr Simpson heard about the various safety courses on offer at QTS like their IRATA (International Rope Access Trade Association) Levels 1-3 courses which includes Rope Access Technician and Rope Access Familiarisation modules.
QTS's bespoke facility was built specifically to train their staff, along with external professionals often from the transport industry or oil and gas sector.
Mr Simpson participated in a mock rescue exercise which saw him lifted 30ft onto a secure platform before having to abseil back to the ground.
MSP for Central Scotland, Graham Simpson said: "Many thanks to all the staff at QTS for letting me take part in this mock rescue exercise at their bespoke facility in Strathaven.
"I have real admiration for technicians and staff who have to utilise this training out in the field, often during inclement weather. This is complex skill and I was delighted to witness it first hand.
"QTS Training are leading the way in this field which is great for the local area and I can't speak highly enough of the fantastic work being done here."
