MSP, Graham Simpson, visited Motherwell FC Community Trust at Fir Park to discuss the various projects they run within the community.
He met with the Trust’s General Manager Dawn Middleton, at the stadium in Motherwell, to have a look around the facility and hear more about their plans for the future.
Motherwell FC Community Trust, which currently employs 7 members of staff, deliver a wide range of services in areas including grassroots football, education, health and employment.
They discussed the Trust’s lifeline work during the pandemic – when they delivered over £25,000 of support through measures like food parcels – and new initiatives like “Off the Bench” designed to reduce the number of offenses committed by 18-24 year olds.
Mr Simpson took a tour of the facility, where he was shown the clubs newly-installed bike racks designed to encourage more fans to arrive under their own steam, before talking with Community Coaches Andy Thomson and Stewart Hall.
There was also an opportunity to hear about the work Motherwell FC Trust do for education and health in the community.
He heard about their vital health-based schemes including “Holiday Hunger”, which provides 2500 children with free meals during the holidays and mental health initiative “Time to Tackle” which will be running sessions at Fir Park on Friday evenings.
Mr Simpson praised the Trust for working tirelessly to help the people of Motherwell.
