MSP visits local school to see SSPCA’s education programme first hand.
Graham Simpson MSP visited Maxwellton Primary School in East Kilbride to see the work of Scottish SPCA Education Officers in the local community.
SSPCA has been helping animals in need for over 175 years. They rescue animals and nurse them back to health before finding them loving new homes or releasing them back into the wild.
Graham Simpson said “I enjoyed joining SSPCA’s education officer Sally White when I visited Maxwellton Primary School to see their education programme first hand. The children were very engaged with learning more about animals and answering questions that Sally put to them. They could answer questions that I would struggle to answer.
“This is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the work the SSPCA do in support of animal welfare. Young people should learn at a young age that animal cruelty is unacceptable. Education in schools is vital to ensure young people are educated about animal welfare issues. The SSPCA ’s free interactive Prevention through Education programme for Scottish primary schools reaches over 275,000 children each year.
“This hard work will help to combat and prevent animal cruelty throughout Scotland. “
