Last week, Graham Simpson MSP, the Shadow Minister for Transport, visited five ferries in one day with CMAL and CalMac. The trip from Droon to Brodick started on the MV Alfred, which is a catamaran. The route continued from Arran to Tarbert and Portavadie, before the final trip which went from Rothesay to Wemyss Bay.
Graham Simpson MSP said: "This was a hugely enjoyable and informative visit. I travelled on a hybrid ferry which largely runs on electric, as well as the oldest ferry in the CalMac fleet which is 47 years old. It was good to see all of the different ferries of different sizes and different ages.
"This day also saw the drama of the Chief Exec of CalMac, Robbie Drummond, being got rid of. Mr Drummond is yet another scapegoat for the Scottish Government. Mairi McAllan needs to urgently explain why she believes sacking CalMac's top boss is a good idea.
"Thanks to CMAL for setting up this fascinating visit. Five ferries in one day- and they did all run."
