Today at Public Audit Committee, Graham Simpson MSP scrutinised representatives from the Scottish Water Industry Commission and the Scottish Government over excess spending. This followed from a previous Committee session where it was revealed that the former CEO of the Scottish Water Industry Commission, Alan Sutherland, had spent over £400 of public money on one meal.
Graham Simpson MSP said: The Auditor General's report was scathing. I've added up how much it would cost for two people to eat the most expensive item on the menu at the restaurant in question, and even in that case there is a £200 excess that doesn't include food. This kind of reckless spending was deemed "appropriate". Spending public money like water is never appropriate."
