Graham Simpson MSP has praised the work of an Airdrie group for people with mental health issues.
Graham Simpson visited Mingling and Sharing Hope, which meets in the town’s library.
The group was formed by people who have been through other mental health services, as a way of helping each other.
Central Scotland Tory MSP Mr Simpson said: “These are people dealing with some of life’s toughest challenges. They have got together to share experience and help each other.
“It has given people confidence with some even managing to venture out the house on their own for the first time in ages. Some of the stories I heard were inspiring. The group has managed to raise funds for trips to places like Loch Lomond, Blair Drummond and Edinburgh.
“But I got a clear picture that they feel let down by a perceived lack of services for those with mental health issues in the area. Members told me there is a lack of information for people in their position and that needs to be rectified.”
