In this week's Local Government and Communities Committee I asked the Finance Secretary Derek Mackay about the Barclay Review of Non-Domestic Rates. We revisited a question I asked him the last time he appeared before the committee. I wanted to know if he still believed there would not be a mass exodus of pupils from independent schools when the schools begin paying non-domestic rates. I am concerned they may be a knock on effect for local councils and asked what evidence he had listened to. He still believes there will not be an influx of pupils in the state sector from independent schools. Only time will tell.
